  • Sustainable cryogenic machining influence on machining process dynamics [Elektronski vir]
Pušavec, Franci ; Govekar, Edvard ; Kopač, Janez, 1949-
Cryogenic machining presents an answer to sustainable development trend in production processes. In this work, its influence on process dynamics is analyzed. Instability of machining and related ... onset of chatter is one of the major problem causing poor surface quality and reduced productivity. Therefore, chatter detection in machining process, based on course grained entropy (CER), is performed. While the cutting process has three directions of chatter occurrence, machining process coupling dynamics is characterized. Based on coupling characterization with so called nonconstant weighting function, a 3D-CER is introduced. With this, the evaluation of cryogenic machining influence on the dynamic behavior of the machining process is performed. Results show that for chatter detection, all three process dynamics directions have to be followed. Additionally, the stability diagrams are defined, proving that cryogenic machining process presents potential alternative to conventional machining, even in the sense of machining dynamic through enlarged stable technological window of the machining process, and so higher productivity and higher quality of machined parts.
