    The present invention relates to an electric motor (1), in particular for a motor vehicle (2), comprising an external stator (3), which is formed cylindrically on its radial outer side (6) and an ... internal rotor (4), which is arranged rotatably relative to the stator (3) about a rotation axis (5). It is essential to the invention here that the stator (3) at least partially on its radial outer side (6) is directly in contact with a damping layer (7), the damping layer (7) surrounds the stator (3) on its outer side (6) in circumferential direction (8), and the damping layer (7) at least partially on its radial outer side (9) is directly in contact with a structure (10), which winds around the damping layer (7) in circumferential direction (8).
