Use of ADVANTG to analyse skyshine [gamma]-dose rates around a silo type LILW repository

MCNP and the ADVANTG code were used to analysec-dose rates for the future Slovenian LILW reposi-tory. Using ADVANTG%s variance reduction technique, different detailed calculations ofc-dose rates ...wereachievable in a reasonable time, whereby the analogue MCNP simulations were accelerated up to 9500times. We analysed the influence of different repository configurations on the annualc-dose rates upto 150 m from the outer edge of the repository. The results show that, for all configurations of the openrepository where the waste from different sources is deposited, the calculated annualc-dose rates werelower than the prescribed limitation (20 mSv/year). By considering also the waste from the Krško NPP,which represents the major contribution by activity and volume, the dose rates increased 698 times.By applying a 33 cm thick layer of the filling grout, the calculated dose rates dropped below thelimitation.
