Examination of the multifaceted dynamics of political and economic transitions in post-socialist Eastern Europe and Latin America reveals their implications for gender equality. By employing the ...concept of “transition” as an analytical lens, we explore the interplay between sociopolitical upheavals, institutional reconfigurations, and feminist activism. We highlight how transitions—marked by democratization, neoliberal reforms, and social movements—both advance and constrain gender equality, reflecting region-specific trajectories and universal challenges. We critically evaluate feminist frameworks, regional differences, and the role of global and local forces in shaping progress and setbacks in gender justice. Through comparative and contextual analyses, we challenge Western-centric narratives, advocating for a pluralistic and context-sensitive understanding of feminist practices, policies, and discourses in transitional contexts.
