Glodež, Nataša ; Hribar, Tina, 1976- ; Dolinšek, Slavko
The under-representation of young people in general and females in particular in science, technology, engineering and mathematical (STEM) studies, occupations and careers is becoming a matter of ... global importance. This challenge has been addressed by the EU FP7 project IRIS that aims to contribute to understanding and improving recruitment, retention and gender equity patterns in higher STEM education. The ongoing research within the IRIS project studies social and educational features that influence educational choice at undergraduate level in five different European countries,i.e. Norway, UK, Denmark, Italy, and Slovenia. This paper presents the preliminary results for the case of Slovenia focusing on differences in males and females priorities regarding their future careers in STEM.
