    In her contribution, the author analyses the linguistic and substantive dilemmas stemming from the terms of family members, family, in-law and kinship used in statutory texts. The author depicts the ... incorrect, inconsistent and pleonastic use of in-law in different legislative acts. Particular attention is given to the term in-laws in the first degree of a direct line and their naming. Another problem highlighted by the author which derives from the linguistic particularity of the Slovene language, is the use of the term parents in the singular and dual form. Further attention is given to the definition of different forms of legal partnerships which in certain cases provide a basis for the establishment of an in-law relationship, regardless of the fact that partners in such communities are neither in-laws nor relatives.
