  • Razvojne okvare stalnih zob po poškodbah mlečnega zobovja = Developmental defects of permanent teeth after traumatic injuries in the primary dentition
    Kosem, Rok, 1965-
Traumatic injuries commonly occur in the primary dentition, especially in the maxillary central incisor region. Because of the close proximity of primary tooth roots to permanent tooth germs, injury ... to a primary tooth may cause developmental defects in the permanent successor tooth, ranging from mild alteration in enamel mineralization to severe malformation of the crown and/orroot. The type of primary tooth injury, the child's age and the stage ofdevelopment of the permanent dentition at the time of injury are important variables influencing the type of developmental defect in the permanent tooth. The treatment of traumatic injuries in the primary dentition should be directed toward pain relief and reduction of potential damage to the developing permanent tooth. The type and extent of primary tooth injury and the risk of a developmental defect in the permanent tooth must be assessed by clinical and radiographic examination at the time of injury and on follow-up visits. The treatment of developmental defects in the permanent dentition induced by primary tooth injury depends on the type and severity of the defect; an interdisciplinary approach is often required.
