  • Problem-solving in mathematics and the role of student's attitudes
Doz, Daniel ; Felda, Darjo ; Cotič, Mara
Problem-solving in mathematics is of paramount importance, and modern mathematics curricula tend to include problem-solving tasks in students’ curricula from primary schools onwards. Nevertheless, ... students’ attitudes toward problem-solving in mathematics are a relatively underexplored topic, especially in primary schools. Research has highlighted the importance of students’ attitudes toward problem-solving in mathematics: students with a more positive attitude toward problem-solving in mathematics have higher attainments in mathematics. Students’ motivation, particularly intrinsic motivation, plays a pivotal role in influencing their problem-solving abilities and achievements in mathematics.
