  • Bilingual teachers in translation courses : an ideal situation?

    The article investigates whether bilingual teachers teaching translation from language A to language B share any typical features in their teaching strategies. Based on observation of two bilingual ... teachers teaching translation A-B, and on the findings of a previous study that observed typicalfeatures of the teaching strategies of teachers who were native and non-native speakers of the target language (Pokorn 2009), it is argued that the teaching strategies of bilingual teachers are similar to those of teacherswho are native speakers of the target language. Based on these results, it is suggested that bilingual teachers, like teachers who are nativespeakers of the target language, be used at more advanced levels of translation training.
