    The paper presents activities connected to searching the most adequate way of measuring and activities connected to searching the most suitable measurement unit for measuring thickness of bitumen ... based hidroisolating bands, which are planned to protect construction objects from water and moisture respectively. Reasons for searching a new principle of thickness-measuring and demands for measurement unit properties are also presented. Furthermore, there is an examination and comparison of different ways of measuring thickness. Thickness-measuring with two laser measurement units is described in details. We discovered how a laser measurement unit operates in the laboratory environment and how it operates in difficult industrial conditions. We discovered that considering difficult industrial conditions only the laser measurement unit with differencial measurement procedure and with additional construction steps suits the punctuality requirements.
