  • An open system for constraint-based geometric design

    The paper briefly surveys a new algorithm for geometric constraint satisfaction in 2D space. Besides the main goal to enlarge the drawing scope of our previous approaches, the presented method fits ... the most of the world-wide-accepted criteria. Among all, it is open to accept user-defined types of geometric elements and constraints. The method combines the constructive and the numerical approach. In this way, various well constrained and under-constrained problems are efficiently solved, and the method successfully detects over-constrained scenes and those contradictory to mathematical theorems. Practical examples illustrate that the method is significantly beyond abilities of classical engineering drawing with ruler and compass. It does not present a drawing tool only, but a powerful mechanism for solving various geometric problems.
