An example of the development of a new GIS/LIS technology educational programme

This paper presents a summary of all the efforts devoted to development of a completely new curriculum for all the subjects dealing with GIS/LIS technology at the Geodetic Department, Faculty for ...Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Ljubljana University, Republic Slovenia. Traditionally GIS/LIS topics have already been a small part of the general course programme for the University degree in Geodesy. All the students applying for the diploma engineer degree in Geodesy had already attended compulsory GIS subjects. The educational board of the faculty has recently made a decision to completely renovate the whole GIS/LIS study programme. The author of this paper was assigned the task of developing a new curriculum. This article outlines the basic considerations and a description of all GIS/LIS related subjects and practical exercises that are to be taught in the coming 1993/94 study year
